I am not a photographer, or an expert on photography, or even a dabbler. I can't quite explain the effect...I just felt myself looking at a photo of bed in an empty room and aching over all the poverty in this country, and for myself for once potentially having been close to living that way, and the possibility that I could have to. I just felt like I was blasted, not by grace, or by fantastic photography, but by reality in all its forms--graceful, graceless, painful, scary, hopeful and funny. And I may have been imagining, but appreciated anyway, a little echo of Diane Arbus (another photog I'm randomely interested in). Zoe, I don't know you, but I love your work. I am so delighted to have unearthed your website. I purchased "The Bathers" and "Moon at Rest" over 20 years ago at the Central PA Arts Fest. They were the beginning of a small collection of prized pieces of art work that I've collected over the years. These prints have travelled with me from PA to FL, NC, CT, and back to FL. I get so many compliments on them. Looking at them brings relaxation. We've recently moved again and today I finally decided to unpack my prized art collection. Your two prints were missing. My heart sunk. I never could read your signature and don't have the pics to try to figure it out anyway. I went to the arts fest website and looked at every photographer's pictures until I finally recognized those images that I have loved for so long. Fortunately, they're covered by the moving company insurance. I'm not sure how long it will take for the insurance reimbursement, but I so look forward to replacing them and will take the opportunity to get the next size up. I may purchase a snow print as well.
