Even though I attend music concerts throughout the year, this week was exceptional; it is the start of my holiday concert going with two extraordinary experiences of worship: Soweto Gospel Choir at the Kimmel Center, and Handel’s Messiah, performed by Vox Ama Deus at Holy Trinity on Rittenhouse Square. These performances demonstrate one of the highest and most noble forms of religious expression.
In contrast, if you have paid attention to the news on any given day, examples of religion being used to divide, alienate, and hate, abound.
During the coming weeks I look forward to seeing more music especially the Intermezzo Gospel Ministry, as well as various other performances around the city. It is good for the spirit and the soul!
